What is poverty?

Poverty is defined as not having the economic means for essential resources such as food, clothing, and shelter, leading to severe deprivation in a person or household.

What causes poverty?

Poverty is not a choice. The leading cause of poverty are a lack of access to quality education, medical care, and nutritious food. The lack of access to quality education leads to job insecurity. Environmental factors such as natural disasters can further distabilize vulnerable communities. It destroys food sources and overall wealth. People who are struggling financially can't escape poverty when essential resources are unattainable or scarce.

Why it matters?

Poverty is constricting. It holds a person back from providing for themselves, their family, and community. It traps families into an intergenerational cycle. A person in poverty is not able to afford proper food leading to malnutrition, leading to expensive hospital bills, which then leads to job instability. This vicious cycle is passed down to the next generation hindering societal progress, public health, and economic stability.

Our plan against poverty

To combat poverty, we must attack its root cause. We aim to end local and global poverty by helping communities in which education, health, and food stability are in jeopardy.

Providing at least one person with educational aid, medical aid, dissater relief, or hunger relief can set them up on the path of financial stability and finally put an end to the intergenerational cycle.
